In the parable of the unforgiving servant, we are painted a vivid picture of the reality of God’s forgiveness of us and our unforgiveness of others. In this parable, the master forgave his servant of a debt that could not be paid while the servant would not forgive the lesser debt of a fellow servant.  Only the shed blood of Christ could free us from our debt, allowing us to be forgiven by God. And in comparison to all that we’ve been forgiven, any offenses done to us are always the lesser debt.  When we don’t forgive, God deals with us, but when we do forgive, God can then deal with the offender.  God is merciful and just, but has called us to overcome evil with good with forgiveness.  So let’s forgive and free ourselves and the offender of all degree of debt.
